Our ArtistsEtienne DUPUISbaritone![]() BiographyMr. Dupuis completed his studies in voice at McGill University where he appeared in productions of Les contes d'Hoffmann, Cavalli's La Calisto and in the role of Belcore in L'elisir d'amore. He was a member of l'Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, where he performed Escamillo and Dancaïre in Carmen and Peter in Hänsel und Gretel. In the past seasons Etienne Dupuis sang frequently with l'Opéra de Montréal including roles in Rigoletto, Die Zauberflöte and La bohème, Mandarino in Turandot, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas and Dancaïre in Carmen. His repertoire includes the roles of Lescaut in Puccini's Manon Lescaut with the New Israeli Opera, Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief with I Musici de Montreal, Marcello in La Bohème with l'Opéra de Québec, Papageno, which he performed with Vancouver Opera and l'Opéra de Tours, Mercutio for l'Opéra de Québec and for Hawai'I Opera Theatre and Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia with l'Opéra de Marseille. Recently, Mr. Dupuis took on the role of Johnny Rockfort in the operatic version of Starmania for l'Opéra de Québec which he reprised in Montreal in March 2009. In the past few months he sang Silvano in Un ballo in Maschera with l'Opéra de Paris, Silvio with Opera de Montréal, Lescaut of Massenet's Manon with Calgary Opera. Upcoming engagements include Marcello with Hawaii Opera and Opera de Montreal, Schaunard with Monte-Carlo Opera, Enrico of Lucia di Lamermoor with Quebec Opera, Silvio with Opera de Marseille... Mr Dupuis was selected to represent Canada in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
